    John Welsh breaks his leg

    Unlucky fella.

Hull midfielder John Welsh has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season, reports BBC Radio Humberside.

The 23-year-old was taken to hospital after he was forced off after just five minutes of Saturday's 2-0 win against Preston at the KC Stadium.

It was suspected that Welsh had broken his ankle or his foots - but subsequent tests have revealed that he has suffered a broken tibia and fibula.

Welsh has made 21 league and cup appearances for the Tigers this season.

He joined Hull from Liverpool in January 2006, following a successful loan spell.
