    SON OF A WHORE
MOURINHO'S AMAZING OUTBURST AT REF RILEY
By Martin Lipton Chief Football Writer 12/03/2007

JOSE MOURINHO admitted that he called referee Mike Riley a "son of a whore" as Chelsea staged a remarkable FA Cup comeback.

The Blues boss confronted Riley at the break as Chelsea trailed 3-1, and shouted "son of a whore" at the official in Portuguese - or "son of a bitch" in English.

Salomon Kalou's late volley, after a double from Frank Lampard, capped a fightback which earned the Quadruple-chasing Blues a White Hart Lane replay next Monday. But Mourinho said: "I did say that to the referee but if you had a microphone you would hear me saying it 10 times every 15 seconds.

"I say it about my players, about myself, even about the ball when it hits the post and stays out. I say it 50 times every game, 50 times in training. At half-time I did speak to the referee, in a polite way. I told him he had given every free-kick to Spurs, that every decision went for them. I'm not saying they were big decisions that influenced the game.

"He told me: 'Leave me alone and let me get on with my work'. It worked too - in the second half he was worse than in the first half." Riley booked nine men, five from Spurs who threw away the chance of their first win at the Bridge since 1990.

Tottenham chief Martin Jol was equally unimpressed with Riley's display. "I don't get on with him very well," said the Dutchman. "At half-time I told him not to react to their fans - then he booked us for the first two fouls of the second half."

Mourinho admitted that there is a major problem over skipper John Terry's Chelsea future, as Mirror Sport exclusively revealed on Saturday.

The Chelsea boss said: "Something has happened and John has not signed the new contract."

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

This really isn't a big deal. it is a very mild term in Portuguese and, for that matter, in Spanish. i would be surprised if Rafa hadn't been heard to utter a 'hijo de puta' himself when things don't go so well.

I thought it was the opposite, i.e. it IS a harsh term in Spain. Isn't it what Beckham got sent off for calling the linesman?

He's got a point about Riley.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Indeed. What the media haven't picked up on in that he IS the son of a whore.

you are correct, in spanish, "hijo de puta" is a very severe insult much worse than the literal translation.

                  nothing remotely mild about it.

Nev Mars was named after his birthplace, having been expelled from the Red Planet for extremely poor taste in clothing and agressive body odour. His life history is unkonown prior to the age of 18, where he undertook a teacher training degree in Barnsley. His martian origins were kept a secret, largely due to the high incidence of inbreeding is this part of England.
