Blackburn defender Zurab Khizanishvili admits he still has difficulty working out why Lucas Neill chose a move to West Ham rather than Liverpool.
Neill was linked with a move to Anfield in the January transfer window but instead signed for The Hammers, and criticised the apparent lack of interest shown by Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.
West Ham are still embroiled in a battle against relegation, while Liverpool have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
And Khizanishvili said: "Everybody knows between Liverpool and West Ham who is the biggest team, who plays Champions League and who is in the top five, so I don't know what happened there.
"I wish him all the best. Lucas is a good player and we know he is captain of West Ham.
"It was Lucas' decision and that is why he chose West Ham."
Neill returns to Ewood Park with his new club on Saturday and Khizanishvili realises the importance of the match for West Ham.
"West Ham are in trouble and if they lose this game they definitely will go down," he remarked.
"But of course we need the points as well because we are playing at home and we need to be in the top six.
"West Ham is another big game for us but I am not surprised by our form because we have done really well this season."
