    Sin Bin

    It works in other sports to cut out dissent to the referees. Why don't we trial it in football?
    If there is any dissent, give them a warning then any further dissent gets a 10 minute sin bin.
    After 10 minutes you have to wait for a break in play before you can come back on.

    I reckon it would cut out dissent very quickly. I'm sick of seeing players at all levels screaming at the referee or referee assistants.
    For a while they trialed the idea of moving the free kicks nearer to the opponents goal, taken from Rugby Union. I think a sin bin would be more effective than that rule.

    Yeah I think it could work.

    Problem is getting past the football "traditionalists".

      15 minutes in the sin bin if you get a yellow card would be a good punishment IMO.
      Just believe and you never know what will happen.

      According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

        Blimey!

        Nah, that's far too long. Some of the "yellow cards" given out these days are a joke, and wouldn't merit that sort of punishment.

          Yes 15 minutes is too long I think and it should not be for every yellow card, that would take away the point of a yellow card.
          The sin bin would be for very strict criteria, those criteria would be dissent deliberate "simulation" (diving) and argy bargy. The sort of handbags, pushing and shoving but not genuine fighting.
          There should be no other reasons to use it.

          This would eliminate 2 of the worst kind of problems with the game - diving and dissent.
          I'm sure the football traditionalists would rather eliminate these elements from the game than continue with the status quo.
          The diving sin bin could be enforced retrospectively in future. So if the 4th official sees that the player has dived on a replay, he can inform the ref and the player goes off at the next break in play.

          How about that then?

            Dont know if you watched the Baggies v Birmingham game today when Greening got booked for taking down a player who was free on the left with a clear run at goal. He got a yellow and that would have been the ideal punishement, 10 mins in the bin. All for it mate

              I didn't se that one. OK, maybe there should be some referee's discretion at things which you can go in the bin for, but I think simulation and dissent should be mandatory binning.

              Managers would soon get their players to toe-the-line if they thought they would be down a man or 2 for 10 minutes.

                If this was to come in they would have to use video evidence. I could not stand listening to Arsene Wenger moaning about wrong decisions all the time. They do in Rugby and it only takes an additional 2 mins to get a decision.
                The Technology is there so we may as well use it.

                  I would think so too, but there are some who would still be scared of changes. It would have happened already IMO. Instead the Football League is talking about scrapping draws .
