    Rotheram

Anyone know why they are currently on minus-7 points? Obviously some scandal I've missed/forgotten.

    Scully in mis-spelling shocker!

Rotherham were deducted 10 points for going into administration last season.

I was testing, and you have passed the test. Well done.

Thinks "Damn - why can't you edit thread titles? You could on Koptalk. Koptalk was a much better site and I love its owner to bits".

We had the same discussion/ quick query/ asked each other today! I said administration penalty sounding all like I knew what I was on about even though I was just guessing

Aye...it's a new-ish rule that any club that goes into administration is automatically deducted 10 points.

I think that it's a bad rule. The last thing a struggling club needs is a points penalty.

True but I can also see where they're coming from with it. Obviously designed as a deterrent to ensure clubs don't get themselves into such a mess in the first place.

It's also to prevent clubs getting an advantage by spending beyond their means on player purchases

****e management has stopped Everton getting ahead despite spending beyond their means.

There should be a new rule to stop clubs spending beyond the means of all the league clubs combined, called something like, oh I don't know, The Abramovich Rule?

The Bundesliga have some sort of rule like that. Every club has to fund itself and keep itself out of debt to be allowed in the competition. The way Roman just pays off Chelsea's debt every seaso would not be allowed over there. I heard on the tv during the world cup that FIFA were thinking of making this rule apply to every league if they could. Bad news for the likes of Chelsea that'd be, if they managed to implement it.
