The guy is just about the best player I have ever seen running at full tilt with the ball at his feet, I used to think McManaman was the fastest player I'd seen while in control of the ball, however Ronaldo has taken that to another level.

He still does some needless tricks, and the other nasty/cheating side of his game is deplorable - however, I'd still much rather have him in my team than not.

Great player, pity he's at that shower in OT.

Have you never seen: Ronaldo (the original at Barca), Maradonna or Henry running at full tilt with the ball at their feet?

    C.Ronaldo doesn't come close.

Incredible skill, Baggio wasn't bad at running with the ball either.

Notable LFC players apart from McManaman : Barnes and Beardsley.

Beardsley used to nutmeg EVERYONE and Barnes weaved his way through many a defence.

Beardsley used to beat his man with skill and deception whereas C.Ronaldo seems to just push and run and out-pace everyone. Otherwise he does a dozen stepovers before simulating a foul

He's a good player in a position where there is a real lack of quality players which helps him stand out. Comparing him to legends of the past is just laughable.

some magical clips on youtube of them running with the ball and maradona getting swarmed by 3 juve players giving him a fair few kicks still evaded them and didn't dive the way ronaldo would!

I'd have him in our team any day of the week....fantastic player.

I don't know the ronaldo you claim to have watched fella. To say he is a hit and run player is inaccurate. He's got bags of tricks up his sleeve.

Yeah, that's plainly bollocks. Ronaldo is brilliant at beating players using skill too. The fact is that you have to hit it past someone and run to beat them otherwise you lose the advantage that you've gained by wrong footing them.
