Apathetic England Followers

Contacted a load of my football watching mates and none of them are watching the England game. I am only watching it because I have nothing better to do.

It seems to me that following years of boredom and disappointment under Sven and now the slow motion car crash that is McClown, a mood of apathy towards our national side has swept the nation.

Do you agree? No-one seems bothered anymore and are of the opinion that we are **** so why bother.

A lot of my mates from back home LOVE England. They're passionate about the country and they're big on England. Some of them have been to places like Liechtenstien, Slovenia, and World Cups and European Championships following England.

On email this afternoon I discovered hardly any of them are even watching it. This is very, very telling.

I'll watch it out of a combination of having nothing better to do and morbid curiosity. I'll hope for an Andorra goal just so I can see Spin McClaren's face.

No point in hoping for that. It'll never ever happen. I want McClaren to get sacked and only a deeply unconvincing win like 2-0 or something would see him come under pressure.

Never been an England fan after growing up with a German surname and supporting them on the sly. Plus the England team always felt like a old school tie club to me, even as a kid. I mean why was Shilton given precendence over Clemence? Worst thing England ever did was winning the World Cup in terms of national expectations. Once every 4 years the media and most of the country delude themselves we can repeat the magic of 1966.
