    I Support Stan

Its been a while since i was really interested in the Irish team. I dont claim to be a proper supporter, more of a well wisher and bandwagon jumper during the big games but anyway the recent irish press reaction to Staunton has reminded me of the way the pathetic English Press go about their business and i am now right behind Staunton and the team. I havent reacted to an Irish goal like last night since Keane's equaliser against Germany in 2002.
If jack Charlton can get away with being a "successful" international manager then so can Staunton.
The fact is that we no longer have the players we once had and we are doing quite well to be in the current position that we are in. A big performance against the Czechs and we have a massive chance of qualifying.
    Come on Ireland!!!!!

I was worried that said Satan for a minute there. I don't know enough about him as a manager to say but pretty much everyone I've heard talk about him has said he's been a bumbling fool.

he's useless at dealing with the media and he is also a hugely inexperienced manager.
I hope it goes well for him though and we qualify. the main reason being the way he is being treated by the media is nothing short of disgusting.
i hope we qualify and Stan gives them all a big **** off if we do

He isn't inexperience - he has NO experience - not the right man for the job - Ireland have limited resources and we need someone tactically competent and someone that can motivate the team and play to their strengths.

Staunton has none of these attributes and one match where the players are fired up and wanted to win to save face against a poor international side means nothing. Staunton will fail and bring Delaney down with him - which will be the only positive outcome of the whole debacle

To be honest, I don't understand anyone not supporting their manager. That's what supporters do, they support.
He may not be the most experienced, but he does seem to be learning quickly and making less mistakes every game, the players are obviously behind him and until the results take a significant turn for the worse, so am I. We are joint top of our group after all and a win against the Czechs would all but gaurantee second place. That would be an amazing acheivement, considering the strength of the squad. The fact the youngsters coming through look very promising could well help Stan out.

Why would you want to see a young Irish manager fail Eth??

Also I wouldn't class Slovakia as a poor side, they're not up there with the Czechs or the Germans granted but they are at least level if not above us in international terms.

I agree that he has no experience and the FAI are a bunch of ****in' eejits but Stan was a great servant to Ireland as a player, an ex Red and he had the balls to take the job and make a go of it IMO.

I genuinely hope he succeeds (and by default Ireland succeeds) and sticks it to the media as Xabi_is_God has said.

He is not good enough, Cyprus and San Marino results have shown this. His game against Wales was about stopping them playing. He was reserve manager at Walsall. If we go through, which I very much doubt it, it will be in spite of him not because of him. I wish he would go now.
Did you see the size off those chickens?

You were a great poster on KT free

Ireland need a manager who will compete against Germany and Chech Republic and finish in the top two.

Sorry,Stan cannot make a second rate team beat Germany or Chech republic.
don`t blame the manager for crap team performances....................

To be honest. I have wanted to see us being beaten while stand has been in charge. even phoned in newstalk one time saying it, and was called a scumbag by someone lol.
Anyway, the reason? I just think we will go nowhere under Stan, and the longer he is in charge, the longer it takes us to get back on track.
Why would a man that is good enough for the job need an advisor like Robson? Ill tell ya why, because he isnt confident enough to do it on his own.
From what I can see, Stand has no football phylosophy, he is not inspiring, communication skills are bad, is not a natural leader, and looks like a clown
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                  * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

That post suprises me coming from you Baz

As a proud Irishman I honestly couldn't ever imagine meself ever wanting Ireland to lose any game, no matter who the manager is.

                      supprised myself aswell Paul.
I guess the reason I say it is because I do want us to do well and I am very concerned about us loosing ground under Staunton, I mean we could turn into 4th seeds before long if we are not already.
I believe he is not good enough for the job Paul, and its only a matter of time before his stint as manager comes to an end. So why drag it out.
I think say a loss the the Czech Rep. at Landsdowne Road could have put us on the way to getting a new manager and most probably a new head of the FAI to replace Delaney who is as bad if not worse than Staunton at his job.

                        Fair enough bro

I totally agree with you about Delaney, he's a ****in' eejit of the highest order but in regards to Stan I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree. OK he's not Lippi or Rafa but he could become to us what Klinsmann was to Germany if he's given a little time IMO. If we can play as well as we did against Slovakia against the big two in the group and carry it away from home then we could get through. Also I wouldn't put all the blame on Stan as I actually agree with Roy Keane that our so called 'Big' players have been lazy ****ers and haven't done it when it matters (except against Slovakia of course)

IMO the manager sets out the tactics and the players act them out and TBH we don't have any world class players anymore (except for Given and Stevie F) so Stan doesn't have a lot to choose from, Robbie Keane is a ****in' waster of the highest order, Duff is a lazy **** most of the time and there is nobody in the midfield areas who can boss a game since Keano retired.

I genuinely hope that the young lads come good and Stan is a success. If not then que sera, people are gonna have to come to terms with the Jack Charlton years being well and truly over.

I'm suprised to see a Liverpool fan say this after one of our most succesful managers had an advisor from the outset too.

He wants other managers to think that,it`s a false sense of security type thing.
