Some guy loses it with Steve Claridge

This is brilliant and so true he's a lower level pundit part of the Sky Analysts team that resides in the Conference league of Analysts just ahead of ITV :whatever:

Steve, I am delighted you have written this, and I hope you can read, and do read, this response.

You are the most arrogant, ill-mannered bully on television.

You hector, harass, disrupt, interject and insult viewers with alarming regularity. All of which might be understandable, if you made anything like a lucid point.

You main retort often seems to centre around 'You have to have played the game to know, mate'.

You should tell this so Wenger, Mourinho, or Benitez, and see what they think of this 'horse to be a jockey' logic.

Last week, a southern Irish caller made a perfectly legitimate claim that the England squad was not, as is so often touted, world class. He underlined the fact that playing for mid to lower table Middlesbrough, Downing was among this number and part of this malaise - but his argument was much more extensive than that, had you bothered to listen.

You seized on this minor point and said 'So that's your argument, Downing isn't good enough becuase he plays for Middlesbrough?'

When the guy had the cajones to say, yes, it was PART of his argument, you muttered that he was a cock, or something similar. So much so that even big boy Newbon nearly followed through and reprimanded you.

You were a terrible player, you're a terrible commentator, and you're a worse person.

Do us all a favour and sling your hook.

They probably won't print this in Pravda, but if they do, I hope you read it.

Didn't you use to tear you hair out as part of some psychiatric condition as player? That's how we all feel listening to you talk.
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

Claridge is indeed a dick and the corrrespondent is right - his argument is always "well I played the game mate, what would you know?" :whatever:
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Ray Houghton on talkSPORT uses the exact same 'Ive played the game' argument. Except he says it in his weird hybrid Scottish / English / Irish / American accent.

His accent is even weirder than Owen Hargreaves'.
        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

TV and radio punditry has taken on a strange form these days. On Sky all the best(!?!) pundits are decent enough players who are biased so heavily towards one club, ie the club they played for, they have little to say that is of any interest. And as for Talksport does being a decent player make you unusable by this station. The gallery of ****in useless deadbeats they parade as experts with insight on a daily basis has to be heared to be believed.
EG: They'll want insight on say a liverpool CL tie at Anfield so they'll get on Davie Fairclough. Hardly a bone fide liverpool legend but scored vs St Etienne and played in the final of '78 v Bruges so he'll do. Compare that with the time they wanted a comment on a chelsea CL tie. They had Kevin ****ing Langley on the phone pontificating on tactics, formation etc. Nuff said!
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.
