    What about Milan Barosh?

My all time favourites are when Michel Platini all of a sudden became Michel Platty-nee and when the great Zenedine Zidane became Zinedine Zeedan.
    Liverpool born and bred.

Boy, how I hate this... I know it's right, but ffs...

            Or Valenthia... Aaaaaaaa!!!

But it's great to listen to Italian commentators It's ****ing funny...

            - Rafa Benitetz
            - Steven Gerrrrrrarrrrrrrd
            - Jamie Carrrrragherrrrrr
            - Steve Finnnnnnannnnn
            - Dirk Kuuuuuyt

But the best was from the time when my mate was in Paris and it was a Champs league match involving Liverpool at that time... He was at the airport (appearently there were no cabs at the airport) and he found a radio, turn it on and listened to the commentary of the Liverpool match (I think it was versus Bordeaux)... And it was like:

            - Pierre Croosh (Peter Crouch) - later he confesed that he didn't know who the **** was this Pierre fella and he thought he plays for Bordeaux and was therefore very upset when "Pierre" scored the only goal of the match
            - Robbie Folár
            - Jermaine Pennán

            etc.

Baros = Barosh = (infact) Baroš

                š = sh

                It's right

It probably is - but we don't pronounce it that way.
Do we say Spain or Espana? it's the same thing.

                  Anyway - stop nitpicking !!

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The case of Spain/España is similar but not exactly the same. Country names are general and in use all the time - individuals' names are specific and pertain only to them. They decide how they are pronounced - otherwise there is no right or wrong.

I see no problem with pronouncing people's names much as they would say it themselves. I said it when we were signing Khowt, it's only polite to make the effort.

But we simply don't have double-y in English so how the hell do we pronounce it? We might as well pronounce it like Sami does.

Absolutely. A Finnish girl I know assures me it's pretty much Her-pee-a.....but with a slightly weird bending of the 'her' bit.
