    You don't batter people senseless. They are not organised. Having a colleague killed is no excuse for battering fans two months later.

            The united fans aren't completely without blame, the only ones who would have got a beating would have been the ones who charged at the Roma fans when they were goading them after the goal.

              I agree with you on reserving our judgement but nothing can excuse violence, even if it's borne out of provocation. Sorry.

                    It's no excuse, but you can forgive them for being overly- cautious. Yes, they went too far, but the Utd fans should know what to expect off the Italian police, like we all do.
