According to the radio this morning its been 14 years since a team lost the 1st leg of a game in the knockout stages of the Champions League and won the tie overall.Originally posted by simey85 View Poston the match i thought roma really missed a chance to take utd to the cleaners very dissapointed they never really went for it. i've got a feeling they may have missed their chance utd were **** last night i can't see them being that bad at old toilet!
Seems amazing and I'm not sure its true, but if it is then the Mancs have to do something no team has done since Ajax in 1993 and the odds are massively against them.

Ajax did it in 1996 against Panathinaikos (they lost the first leg at home 1-0 the night of our first 4-3 against Newcastle) to get to the final against Juve. So it's less than 11 years. Still quite an amazing stat, if true.Originally posted by Slim View PostAccording to the radio this morning its been 14 years since a team lost the 1st leg of a game in the knockout stages of the Champions League and won the tie overall.

I'm pretty sure the correct version of that stat is no team have lost the first leg at home and gone on to turn the tie around.Originally posted by Slim View PostAccording to the radio this morning its been 14 years since a team lost the 1st leg of a game in the knockout stages of the Champions League and won the tie overall.

Didn't Bayern lose the first leg to Real in the last round, but then still go through?Originally posted by Slim View PostAccording to the radio this morning its been 14 years since a team lost the 1st leg of a game in the knockout stages of the Champions League and won the tie overall.

Originally posted by The Glove View PostYes, yes they did.
It will now be, 'At the quarter final stage'Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostI thought he was talking about losing home legs?Yes I meant to say losing the home leg. Sorry for the confusion chapsOriginally posted by Reece View PostThe original post didn't specify that.
I'm clutching at any statistical straw to give me hope that the Mancs go out.
