now with Roman at Chelsea, his countryman at Portsmouth, Glazier at Man U and now another American billionaire Randy Lerner is set to take control of Aston Villa, and even with the likes of Kraft being linked to us i have to ask...
Is this a concern? what does this mean for the future of football, in England an in general?
having seen how sports such as NFL and baseball have declined in quality(of the game as entertainment not players), with increased marketing and television sponsorship, we have time outs sponsored by companies, timeout made for television commercials, home runs sponsored by companies ffs etc...
now this is not what i fear for football the most, but it's a concern, now that revenues have been maxed out ant two of Americas biggest sports and football on the rise in the US you have to wonder about the future...
Now for the real problem imo, footbal is about finding the right players at the right price for the right club, not about buying the best player for the club with the richest owner, i see a future of high rollers playing monopoly with the league as it is...
and the only way to stop this progression for the worse in football is to have wage caps and transfer caps placed on teams, this will not end the interests of the rich but it might slow it down an prevents the super rich to turn a ****ty club in to a dynasty over night...
the affect this might have for the smaller teams could be catastrophic, promoted teams would almost have no possibility of keeping their place in the league with out sever financial backing and even that wouldn't ensure them success witch could easily but them in bankruptcy...
and with the number of high rollers taking charge of clubs today will ensure that they have more people to lobby to fifa their special rights and needs, and they will have more power to change the game to the worse...
sorry for the negative Nostradamus rant i'm having here, i just have a bad feeling right now about the future...
