Yes I see your point mate, and I agree that Giles is a very good pundit. He's a bit like Graham Taylor (don't laugh) - both offer insightful comment rather than just stating the obvious, kissing arse or being controversial for the sake of it.

You're right in some ways. However, Giles offers the most balanced insightful opinions of any pundit on tv at the moment. He picks up on the inoccuous elements of professional football (bread and butter defending etc) and highlights such things that other pundits ignore because they are not sensational. I agree that Brady is an arsenal-loving tit, and Dunphy is overly-controversial at times but the three of them together make for a fine and entertaining mix of views.

Im not saying that they're right all the time, or even most of the time, but at least they're giving their own honest opinions on players, matches, managers - something which is sorely lacking in relation to the Uk punditry.

I dont watch them because I agree with everything they say, but rather that I know im going to get honest straight talk about football, and not the rose-tinted infuriating drivel that is offered by sky and to a lesser extent the bbc.

Giles is definitely the best of the lot.
Just because he appears on the same show as Dunphy, he shouldn't be lumped in with him.
Dunphy can be good, but is more entertaining that analytical. He's inconsistent as hell, sure, but that's probably down to him being a cokehead.

He gets really caught up in each match and slates eveyone and everything if the match is not played in an efficient professional manner. I dont think he really meant that about gerrard, but was frustrated by the amount of ball that Barca were allowed to have in the second half of the 2nd leg. As we all were to an extent.

Between himself giles and brady - its the best punditry around. I cant watch bbc sky or itv's punditry because frankly its appalling, whereas the rte pundits have no agenda, no fear of the media's interpretation of their comments etc. Its such a pity you cant get rte in england cos i think these three pundits would be cult heroes if you could.
