Spare a thought for Owen

Really beginning to feel sorry for the lad. The acrimonious way he left us still rankles, but he's paid for that in bucketloads. These are the key years of his career and he is spnding them injured, at Newcastle. Plus there have to be serious concerns about his career that would surely jeopardise a move to a bigger club or back to Anfield.

A big waste of talent.

Must sit at home and think the worst decision he's ever made was leaving Anfield.

Dont get me wrong, I still think he is a back-stabbing little git, but you cant help but have a little sympathy for the way he flushed his career down the toilet.

I remember Anfieldforever putting up a vehement defence of Owen's injury record and saying Owen wasn't injury prone.

I feel for him - ok he is minted and he ****ed us about etc etc but his career looks in a real bad way now, I doubt we will ever see him ripping defences apart again. He will struggle to get 100% fit and won't be a guarantee for England.

I imagined he thought he'd be helping Madrid lift number 10 and a couple of la liga titles when he left us.

To be honest i'd have a slight pang of sympathy for Owen had he been honest with the club and us about wanting a move instead of forcing the club into accepting a below market valuation for him.

I'm in no doubt that had we a lesser manager than Rafa in charge of the club at the time then our entire season would have been written off several weeks before it even started.

I have to say I always have sympathy for footballers who actually want to play when they get long term injuries.

Owen did a lot for us while he was here. I have no hard feelings. I think the club have done their best to look like it was all Owens fault with the contract/transfer situation but if you look at the Gerrard situation the next year it becomes clear that our board have not always conducted themselves in a way which makes players happy in negotiations.
