    Chelsea agree fee for Boulahrouz

Seen this guy play a few times but to be honest don't know if he's any good. Anyone?

Chelsea are poised to sign Dutch international defender Khalid Boulahrouz after agreeing a deal with German club Hamburg SV.

Boulahrouz, 24, is due to travel to London at the weekend to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

Nicknamed "Khalid the Cannibal", Boulahrouz joined Hamburg from RKC Waalwijk in the summer of 2004.

Capped 15 times by Holland, Boulahrouz has become a key member of Dutch coach Marco van Basten' side.

The defender impressed during the World Cup, though he was red-carded in Holland's defeat to Portugal in the last 16 stage.

Boulahrouz's arrival is unlikely to affect Chelsea's pursuit of Cole as the Dutch player plays on the right side of the defence.

I saw him during the World Cup - a player in the mould of Jaap Stam - tough, uncomprimising and often on the wrong side of the rules.
He was the one cutting down Cristiano Ronaldo in the beginning of that infamous game against Portugal - the one with the 4 red and 16 yellow cards.
He caught him on the thigh with a boot in a totally reckless tackle and should have been sent off.
He's got this mean streak so he can form a wonderful partnership with Ricardo Carvalho who I think is among the most irritating footballers ever to have come around!!
Boulahrouz will not help Chelsea win over any of the people who say that the team is made up of robots - he'll probably take the role as Robocop...
Another 96.000 reasons to honour Rafa

I just hope someone has a cunning plan

He's a decent player, but doesn't particularly strengthen them in any way. He's not even close to Gallas.

A tough player, all in all pretty good. He's not nearly as good as Gallas though, nor is he much better than Carvalho. I'd go so far as to say I'd be happy for Chelsea to sign him.

That'll be the sensible Chelsea school of negotiation. I reckon Peter Kenyon is Ridsdale in disguise.
