    Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Any opinions on how we’ll do in the forthcoming Euro qualifiers? Obviously it is a very tough group, IMO Toshack will use this campaign to gain experience for the young players coming through and hopefully end up as high as possible in the group in order to improve our placing in the FIFA rankings.

It’s a big ask to finish in the top two places IMO. Do you think that it is a possibility to finish third behind the Germans/Czechs?

I just had a look through the fixtures and can see us struggling to get third. I am basing this on our form of a few months ago though as I have missed our recent friendlies. Toshack would not have been my first choice manager but that is more based on what he did first time round rather than his ability.

Hopefully he can improve the team and who knows, maybe we can take some points off the big teams. I cannot see us qualifying and I think you're right in saying we might use this to try and boost our ranking.

We should be looking to finishing ahead of San Marino, Cyprus, Slovakia and Rep of Ireland in my opinion, with the battle for third between us, the Irish and Slovakia.

The Germans should win the group with the Czechs going through a bit of a transitional period under a new coach and losing some star names in Nedved and Poborsky. So the Czechs could be there for the taking on Saturday if we go there with confidence, but a draw would be a good result for us too!

The Irish are a good side but that stuffing to Holland a few weeks ago could have damaged their confidence despite having a lot of key players missing. Slovakia are a technical side and will be tough opposition too so these two teams will be in there with us in the hope that the Czechs mess up for a top two place - but I can't see it happening really!

The other two should be beaten (despite our last trip to Cyprus) and we need the full 12 points against them if we have hopes of pushing ourselves.

Saying that, we have a lot of youngsters coming through into the first team now and they will be settling into international football with hope of challenging for a qualifying spot in the next tournament, but with the likes of Giggs, Bellamy, Earnshaw, Jones, Delaney, Gabbidon and Davies we have enough quality and experience to really shock some people along the way.

Our usual problems though remain at both ends, putting the ball in the net and not conceding goals. If we can nick the odd goal away from home and keep clean sheets at home then we'll have a good chance of featuring in the top three. I'm going into the competition with the expectations of getting the odd shock result and beating the lesser teams, and anything else is a bonus.

      Come on Cymru!!!
