According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
He's got a little better recently I think but he is very annoying as well as frequently wrong.

SSN were talking earlier about how Poll was respected by managers and players as a ref but they didn't like his style. Can anyone tell me what this means in practice or is it simply a journalist trying to have it both ways - not to offend Poll while 'explaining' the flak he gets from people within football.

In general referees seem to only have about two seasons in the PL before they become rubbish. The attantion seems to go their head. It is a hard job and I think the PL list should only allow referees two consecutive years in the top division at a time. Or maybe there just needs to be more of a strick reward/punishment scheme for good/bad performances.
I actually think the standard of refereeing is not too bad in this country and they get a lot of unecessary stick, however when they try and be personalities on the pitch they do themselves no favours.

I think it means he does his job as well as any one most of the time but he pisses people off by being a showman.
He's probably less of a **** off the pitch.

So that's what Poll is? I must say I hadn't noticed any kind of personality. What has he tried to do to project himself?
