Shock horror, Fat Sam gets Newcastle job

Newcastle have confirmed the appointment of Sam Allardyce as their new manager on a three-year contract.

He'll do well at Newcastle. Expect them to be challenging for a UEFA Cup place next year and a CL place the following season.

Then he'll get the sack for not winning the league.

Isn't he getting some astronomical amount of money? More than Rafa and Wenger isn't it?

You mean to spend in the transfer market? Or his own wages?

His own wages sorry. I read a piece by a Newcastle fan moaning about it. He was saying that Allardyce hasn't really done anything in the game and didn't deserve to be paid more that Rafa and Wenger, who obviously have.

He said for the money they were paying him they should have tried to tempt Rafa and Wenger to the club first, which made me go like this:

I am rolling on the floor laughing at that one.

                  Tempt Wenger or Rafa?

                  They're so deluded it's embarrassing.

they are deluded the geordies - Allardyce will get £20m or so to spend, blow half of it on a lump of a centre forward to hoof the ball to and spaff the rest of it on high wages buying some "experienced" stars. Newcastle next season will be a strong, physical team and tough to beat, when they are not hoofing the ball, they will be hoofing the opposition.

I think Allardyce will do fine with Newcastle if their chairman steps back and doesn´t interfere. They have an OK base with Parker, Duff, Owen, Martins, Milner, Taylor, Milner, Solano and Given. Sam doesn´t need to spend that much to get a top six place IMO.
                      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

It's a shame really. Our games with Newcastle used to be quite free flowing. They weren't any good, but at least they tried to have a go at us. Now they'll become the new Bolton, which of course won't please Rafa...

will Owen and Martins be there next year? They have some decent players and a good spine of a squad, and I no doubt that they will be tough to beat next season, but they will be an ugly team to watch and play against, Newcastle, at the moment, look like a team that justs rolls over and dies. Allardyce will toughen them up, get them motivated - but other than that he won't take them to the glory that for some reason newcastle think they belong with. The standard and gap between the big four and the rest is huge now and imo the only team that look like breaking into/challenging the top four is spurs - they have a good set up, good manager and appear to have decent finances

Big Sam is probably going to splash out £10m on a forward and think he can teach Bramble to cut out the mistakes!
