I think he'll bring them up to Spurs level. They've got a decent squad, they only need the worlds greatest physio plus a new defence. If someone could organise those muppets they'd be a good team.

Shock horror, Fat Sam gets Newcastle job

You can just imagine the way they will play can´t you, beef up the midfield with Parker, Butt and some other thug and hoof the ball to Martins and Owen. Unless Sam goes back for Kevin DaviesOriginally posted by PTP View Postwill Owen and Martins be there next year? They have some decent players and a good spine of a squad, and I no doubt that they will be tough to beat next season, but they will be an ugly team to watch and play against, Newcastle, at the moment, look like a team that justs rolls over and dies. Allardyce will toughen them up, get them motivated - but other than that he won't take them to the glory that for some reason newcastle think they belong with. The standard and gap between the big four and the rest is huge now and imo the only team that look like breaking into/challenging the top four is spurs - they have a good set up, good manager and appear to have decent finances
But I think they´ll still make a decent top six (byt that I mean spots 5 and 6 possibly) side, IF they lose Owen or Martins that´ll mean more money in the coffers and Allardyce doesn´t need much. They should move fast and get Distin in and a half decent left back as well and they would improve without a doubt under Sam.
* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

The sentiments in most of that sentence are predictable but the first three words are quite a shock.Originally posted by tommyg View Posthe's come out and said that he wants to keep martins & owen at newcastle
It's about time someone with a high profile in English football was open about it. Well done Sam..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

i think he'll sort them out. gut feeling, i think he might put pressure in the big 4 in 2-3 years, more than he did with bolton ,and more than tottenham ever will. he might not play the prettiest football, and i hate his guts but he gets results, and i think they have the bast manager they have had in a long time..."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

he will finish top 6 with them next season.
Like him or not he has well drilled football sides.
Newcastle have some good players, and if he can sort them out tactically they will do well."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Typical Sam players, three players over 30 and one troublemaker.Originally posted by Howard_lfc View PostToon linked with Hyypia, Barton, Viduka, & Sol CampbellJust believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I don't think Alladyce would go for Barton. The trouble makers he has taken have had far less profound problems than Barton, who appears to have no wish to improve his behaviour. BBC says he has been arrested about the assault by the way.
I think he doesn't get the credit he deserves. At times, especially when they had Okocha Bolton played some very good football. His problem was that he could never attract players at their peak and really was only capable of bringing in one big signing a season. I think Newcastles cash will mean that he will produce a good team. I would say he is more like Mourinho and Rafa in terms of his philosophy than many are willing to admit.
He will have to buy a defence but with the possibility of Hyppia being available and Distin on a free that might not be as big a task as it appears. The preponderance of wingers in their squad will be a big help to him and his style. Martins will do okay in his prefered 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation. I think he will get the best out of Butt. So I think it will work out well if Shepherd allows him a free hand."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

wouldnt be at all surprised to see Viduka go to the Toon.
Big lump of a lad....very good at holding up the ball, and will allow Owen and Martins to feed of him."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
