Indeed - it's very similar to Partridge's line in his live show when he talks about someone throwing down the gauntlet and him picking it up and throwing it back.

But Crooks actually said that - word for word. I fell about laughing. It was pure Partridge, but also pure Crooks. He asks the most inane **** yet he kinda gift-wraps it in this horrible pseudo-intellectual cobblers. I love his "serious, thoughtful" face when listening to an interviewee's answer.

Nobody is really addressing the reason why Garth Crooks is on TV. Surely there is someone of the same ethnic background with a better aptitude for interviews and intelligent discourse?

I genuinely think he's on TV because some idiots, high up at the BBC, have fallen for his wannabe-intellectual act. He's relatively well spoken and has a serious face - a winning combo, as far as the Beeb are concerned.

Foster's a good keeper, but he made some shocking mistakes. Off the top of my head I could say that Carson, Reina, Howard and Jaaskelainen had better seasons.

Eboue? What? Decent last year, crap this year, cheats every year.

Vidic is just a lump who gets in the way of stuff. When will people realise this?

Gerrard, not a patch on last year.

Tevez, only started playing in February. Granted he was bloody brilliant, but over the whole season? Not for me.

Carson and Jaaskelainen both made easily as many shocking mistakes this season as Foster. All three were generally very good but made glaring howlers. Reina had a shocking start to the season. Eliminate all of those and it's down to Howard who was consistant but not oustanding all season or Cech. I have to say I think any of the above would be a fair enough shout.

Eboue has the talent but wasn't great this year. Best right back in the league - Finnan or Essien probably, but Essien deserves a midfield birth so Finnan gets the nod for me. not a great year for fullbacks.

Vidic was the best CB in the league by miles. Getting in the way of stuff as a central defender is a valuable skill. His short distribution is good and he is very dominant in the air. He also has to do the thinking for Ferdinand.

Agree with you about Gerrard and Tevez.

I watched the BBC on line service on Sunday and I swear he was on drugs.

Gavin Peacock looked like he wanted to **** him the amount of bull**** Crooks came out with.

He was the first of that ethnic backgroung to start so they can't get rid of him now by saying sorry we have found somebody better.
