Pizarro to Chelsea and ManU want Anelka

Chelsea reach deal with Bayern Munich's Pizarro
    tribalfooball.com - May 31, 2007

Chelsea have struck terms with Bayern Munich's Bosman prospect Claudio Pizarro.

The Times says Chelsea have agreed personal terms on a four-year contract worth £50,000 a week with Claudio Pizarro, the Peru striker, who will join them on July 1.

Pizarro, 28, scored 97 goals in 229 appearances for Bayern Munich and has been recruited to apply further pressure to Andriy Shevchenko and offer cover when Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou are at the African Cup of Nations in Ghana, in January and February.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

SIR ALEX WANTS LE SULK IN £60M BONANZA
New striker and new boss in Manchester Anelka latest in Fergie spree
    David Mcdonnell 01/06/2007

NICOLAS ANELKA last night emerged as a shock target for Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson prepared to take his summer spending close to £60million.

After completing the triple capture of England midfielder Owen Hargreaves, Portuguese sensation Nani and Brazilian wonderkid Anderson, United have made a move to sign £8m Bolton striker Anelka.

'Le Sulk' has led a nomadic career taking in seven clubs including Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City, before signing for Bolton last summer from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

And now the brooding Frenchman's career could be set for another twist after United made an enquiry to Bolton about the 28-year-old within the past few days.

Anelka wants to play Champions League football and Bolton are understood to want the £8m they paid for him to let him leave.

After a slow start at Bolton, Anelka scored 13 goals last season.

United yesterday confirmed the £18m signing of Hargreaves from Bayern Munich, following on from the £32m double capture of Nani and Anderson.

Fergie had set his sights on Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres, Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov and Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o, all of whom would have cost more than £20m.

But the £50m outlay on Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson has meant Fergie has had to revise his spending options for a striker, which is why Anelka - at under £10m - has entered the frame.

Brazilian attacking midfielder Anderson, 19, dubbed the new Ronaldinho, revealed his delight at joining United. "I want to give my all to my dream," he said.

"I am so motivated. I cannot wait to play with people like Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo."

Ronaldo, who came through the ranks with Nani at Sporting Lisbon, welcomed the arrival of his Portugal teammate and close friend. "He's an amazing player who can do incredible things with the ball," said Ronaldo. "He can make and score goals, and is an exciting player." Nani said: "This is a dream. I am ready for the challenge.

"It won't be easy to get a place in the first team. To play with Cristiano Ronaldo again will be fantastic."

United have also announced pre-season fixtures. The squad will split in two for games on August 8. One squad will face Northern Ireland team Glentoran while another side will take on Dunfermline at East End Park. United will also face a home friendly against Inter Milan on August 1.

SIR Alex Ferguson won't be buying Nicolas Anelka for his form against Manchester United - despite goals like these for Arsenal and Man City in 1999 and 2001, he has scored only five times against them in 16 games - and none in his last 5 games since November 2002.

When Anelka was linked to Everton he said "I wore Liverpool's shirt and I will never wear Everton's". Surely the same applies to Man United.
