          I've always thought of Joey Barton as a very, very good player.
          Can he get his head right at Newcastle? remains to be seen.

                    It really is a joke 70,000 pounds for the likes of him who is a good player but no where near worthy of that wages.

                    Newcastle will never learn how to run a club. Surely that board will go once the new guy comes in!!!

                        I think with the new TV money we will see another ludicrous hike in players wages.

                        Barton is better than average because he adds goals to an average box to box midfielder. He is nothing special but it is all about getting the right blend in a team and Newcastle have lacked goals from midfield. £5m is a reasonable fee to pay for an experience English midfielder.

                        I think it is a bit of an odd move for Alladyce to make though as there have long been rumours of probelms in the United dressing room and Barton hardly seems the player to quiten that down.
