Wigan to get relegated next season

Wigan Athletic have completed the free transfer signing of former Newcastle United centre-half Titus Bramble.

The 25-year-old stopper has signed a three-year contract with the Latics, having also been a target for several other Premier League clubs following his release by the Magpies.

Wigan boss Chris Hutchings told the club's official website: "This is an excellent signing for us. He will add experience to the back four and now we must keep up the chase for further targets.

"Other clubs were very interested and it speaks volumes for us as a club that he has chosen to come here."

Bramble joined Newcastle for £5million from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2002 and went on to make more than 150 first-team appearances, netting seven goals.

The Latics are also rumoured to be interested in Blackburn Rovers defender Andy Todd and Sheffield Wednesday's Northern Ireland winger Chris Brunt.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I dunno what happened to Titus, remember him when he first broke through at Ipswich, he did look like a real prospect. But went to the Barcodes and well, the rest is history.

Like Anton Ferdinand and Callum Davenport he has too short an attention span and appears to stupid to learn the tactics of the game well enough to compensate. They all have many of the talents necessary to do well but fall down in the mental department IMO. They are all cut rate Rio's with worse passing and instincts - and he is only really good when he is appropriately partnered.

To be fair to Bramble he has often been partnered with defenders of less ability or experience than himself so he hasn't had many people to learn from, but staying awake for an entire game would probably be a good start.

Irrespective of the signing of Bramble, I'd think Wigan are practically certainties to get relegated - not sure what the odds are but I'd certainly put money on it.

Didn't this Hutchings bloke take Bradford down a few years ago, or was Jewell still in charge?

Wigan have won the race to sign Antonine Sibierski from Newcastle.

The French forward turned down a one-year offer to remain at St James' Park and he has now agreed a two-year deal at The JJB Stadium.

Sibierski, is understood to have had offers from a number of teams including Bolton, was pleased to see his future resolved.

"I am delighted to have my future sorted," Sibierski told Wigan's official website.

"The manager impressed me hugely and this is clearly a very ambitious club. I can't wait to get started."

The arrival of Sibierski means he is the second player to arrive from Newcastle in 24 hours after Titus Bramble also signed on the dotted line for The Latics.

Wigan boss Chris Hutchings added: "Antoine is a player I have admired a lot ever since he came to England.

"He is strong and committed and will give everything to the cause. He is a player who can fill a number of different positions, in midfield or as a striker and I'm delighted to be able to add him to the squad."

Sibierski is a decent player, Dont think Wigan will go down as some suggested.
Me money is on Fulham, Man Citeh & M'Boro to go down next season.
