    Ribery set for Bayern

Shame, class winger. I wonder if Rafa wasn't interested or we were just priced out. Could have been included in any Cisse deal with Marseille.

    Ribery to Bayern for €25m

Bayern Munich expect to complete the signing of Marseille star Franck Ribery on Thursday.

The clubs are believed to have agreed a €25million (£17million) deal for the France international, which would make Ribery the most expensive player in Bayern's history.

"We just have a few details to settle, but the deal should be made on Wednesday," Marseille chairman Pape Diouf told L'Equipe.

"Ribery will leave for Munich on Thursday to have his medical and sign the contract. Bayern have always acted in a perfectly fair way since they declared their interest.

"When the player agreed to go to Bayern and our financial conditions were accepted, it was out of the question to imagine him going to any other club."

Ribery is expected to agree a four-year deal.

Diouf also confirmed that the money earned from the deal should allow Marseille to complete a deal for France striker Djibril Cisse.

"At the weekend or early next week, we will negotiate with Liverpool to try to keep Djibril Cisse."

Barcelona midfielder Ludovic Giuly recently hinted to a French radio station that he was eager to replace Ribery at Marseille, but Diouf claims nothing has yet been agreed.

"It is a just a vague appeal from the Barcelona player so far. We have to see what the conditions of the deal would be.

"But I have to be clear: we won't overpay anyone."

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

RAfa is probably not interested then.
Since we have Cisse there I am sure a combined deal was possible.
Shame, I really think he would have been good for us.

I would have loved to see him here. Mascher/Gerrard/Teves/Kuyt/Ribery. Would have been the hardest working frontline/CM in the PL. Add Kewell and...no forget that...

At least we will get £6m-£8m for Cisse now

I know people think Ribery is good but 17m? That's a lot.

Now let's hope Marseille give us most of that for Cisse!

Ribery is ok, but 17mill? phew that is a lot of wedge esp for someone who has moved about a lot, esp at sucha young age. It's only since he joined Marseilles in 2005 that his form took off.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we have acted too late on the transfer front, unless every target is in Spain and we are NOT in for Simao or Malouda. The price for players is going up by the day and the Scum set the standard. Malouda surely will not be going for less than 12-16m. since Lyon will just point to this deal. Benfica will point to Nani and Anderson and so on, I think we´ll see sky high prices this summer.

I misread the title and thought it said 'Rubbery Cisse' - if true, it might have prevented his broken legs.

                        25 million euros, shocking money.

Just shows that he isnt that great as he's going to Batern who arent even in the Champs League next year. No other top club must of been in for him

You have to wonder about the attitude of a player like Ribery, having chosen to go to Bayern.
