    Help - 7 a side Tactics

For some reason the guys at work seem to think I'll make the ideal coach for the company 7 a side team

Now to be honest other than watching almost as much football as AFII, I haven't really got a clue

I know quite a few of you guys play 5 a side, so do you have any hints and tips for an aspiring Rafa?

Find out if you can sub on trhe fly or if you need to wait for dead ball. If that's the case, then you can actually sub off defenders for forwards straight away. Seen that happen at a few tourneys and it really does make all the difference when one is coming off near your goal and the other goes on near theirs.
Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

        Keeper
        Def Def
        Mid Mid Mid
        Att

        Long shots from the midfield
Get the best long range shooter there.
A striker who works hard from side to side and can lay it off to the onrushing mids.

Make sure you have freekick/corner routines set up.
Do put a man on their keeper at all set pieces.

Its all about long(ish) range shots isn't it. Particularly shoot across most keepers and you will have decent chance.

Strikers making runs to wide positions, drawing out their defense for openings, then laying it off inside to onrushing mids.

Thanks guys. For some reason we play 3 at the back, which seems a bit of a wast seeing as most teams play one up front. Apparently it's because out defence is so crap

The thing about 7 a side defence is that more people in defence doesn't add up to the improvement that it seems it should do. Be brave, on small pitches it's mostly about scoring goals anyway

As i said, play 3 at the back, but sub one off in the defensive end and immediately sub one on in the attacking end during play, then when they break out, do the same in reverse to cover.

Well, usually possession changes too quickly back and forth to actually make a lot of advantage out of that changing malarky.

Have a couple of different corner routines.
You get quite a few of them, but teams rarely prepare anything, so they are usually wasted.... prepare and you might get the edge.
