Has apparently quit Corinthians, refusing to train or play under their current coach.
Speculation is growing that Corinthians' crown jewels Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez may both move to The Premiership before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
The Brazilian side sent a delegation of officials to London on Tuesday to meet with investment group MSI in a bid to negotiate the exit of star striker Tevez after he signalled his desire to leave the club following a falling out with the fans.
However it now appears as though Mascherano's future is also up for debate with Corinthians possibly ready to cash in on the Argentine World Cup star after he missed training on Tuesday.
Club president Alberto Dualib has admitted that talks with MSI are likely to clarify the situation of the two stars on Wednesday, with the Argentine media suggesting that the duo are expected to make their way to England.
"This Wednesday is the key day and the negotiations are very advanced," said Dualib.
Former Boca Juniors sensation Tevez has been linked with a number of clubs across the continent ever since it became clear he was desperate to leave Brazil, with Roma, Manchester United, Chelsea, Milan, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid all believed to hold an interest.
The latest club to reportedly join the race is Aston Villa, with Randy Lerner's millions dramatically increasing their pulling power in the transfer market.
However reports in Tevez's home country suggest that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could be leading the chase for the powerful forward.
Meanwhile defensive midfielder Mascherano appears to be the subject of a tussle between Manchester United and Chelsea, with Sir Alex Ferguson turning his attention to new targets after seemingly missing out on Owen Hargreaves.
Tevez and Mascherano's agent Adrian Ruocco is attending the crunch meetings in London and the situation of the two Argentine internationals should be much clearer in the next 48 hours.
Whilst Tevez had been expected to leave after staying away from the club for the past week, Mascherano has now also gone AWOL with arguments continuing over his availablilty for the glamour friendly against Brazil at The Emirates Stadium on September 3.
Corinthians are not keen for the midfielder to travel for the tie, even though he is suspended domestically, and relations between the parties have reached a new low after coach Emerson Leao confirmed Mascherano had skipped training.
"I began the practice at 8.30 am and there was no sign of Mascherano," coach Leao confirmed to reporters.
"I haven't received any official message from him and the case has been passed to the directors."
The future you have, tomorrow, won't be the same future you had, yesterday.
holly ****ing ****, i can't sleep over the tought that tevez is gong to a premiership club other than us, arsenal, utd, chelski, i would rather jump of the brookly bridge than to see that happen...
we could however use Mascherano, the monster, with sissoko injured hamman gone we clearly need a holding midfielder to cover, Mascherano would be great in the premierleague, but again, i won't have him going to the ****ing mancs...
"I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

Hammers to land Tevez & Mascherano
By Graeme Bailey - Created on 31 Aug 2006
West Ham United are set to pull off a major coup by the signing Argentine stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, skysports.com can reveal.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were all thought to be competing for the duo, along with some of the continents elite including Bayern Munich and Milan.
However, The Hammers have struck a deal with Media Sports Investments (MSI) - who own the rights to the Corinthians pair.
Portsmouth were also in line to broker a move, but it seems MSI have decided that a move to West Ham will best serve their prize assets.
The deal is believed to be initially for a season-long loan for the duo - but it could become permanent if all parties are happy.
The pair are both currently in England ahead of this weekend's Brazil versus Argentina clash at Arsenal's brand new Emirates Stadium.
A statement on Tevez's website claims a move is done for himself and Mascherano.
"Carlitos Tevez along with his former Corinthians team-mate, Javier Mascherano, has signed a contract to play with West Ham United of England," read the statement.
WHAT a coup for The Hammers!!! Thank god we've got one of our games against them out of the way!!
Hammers to net Tevez & Mascherano
Argentina striker Carlos Tevez says he and team-mate Javier Mascherano have agreed to sign for West Ham.
The World Cup duo, who both play for Corinthians in Brazil, are set to move to Upton Park on a year-long loan.
Tevez, 22, claims on his website he and Mascherano, 22, have signed contracts with West Ham despite being linked with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Hammers are thought to have struck a deal with Media Sports Investments, who own the rights to the two players.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
West Ham would be looking at £30 million for those two, and there's no way they have that amount of cash. Maybe it's a loan deal though, but even still those two players could pretty much have their pick of European teams if they were on loan.
Just popped over to redcafe to see the reaction, and it's absolutely hilarious. They are up in arms about this: 'Fergie misses another transfer target'. Fantastic.
As usual, you can rely on them to come up with their usual magnanimous, humane responses:
