I reckon he'd take something in the region of £70k p/w, which is £3.5m p/annum. And i'd definitely pay him that much, or maybe even a bit more. Top player, plenty of pace, spark and goalscoring threat.

What sense does it make to say NO to him (AND his wage demands), if we're prepared to shell out £25m or more, PLUS £4m+ p/year on wages for any of the 'big name' strikers?

Any 'top' striker we get is gonna be commanding at LEAST £3m p/year in wages, if not more. People talk of Eto'o, Villa, Torres etc - none of them would take less than £3m p/year. And with them, you've got the £20m, £30m, £40m fee to go with it.

Trying to sign Saviola is a no-brainer, anyone can see that.

Yeah but he's leaving Barcelona, and they're huge, he'll know that he *might* have to be a bit flexible with his next contract. Let's say £4m per year, on a four year deal, plus £5m signing on fee. In total, that's still 'only' £21m.

IMO, there's no reason whatsoever to not be in for Saviola.

I think it's a bit unfair to say he'd be joining for the money alone, I mean he will want to be paid but he will see LFC as a team which is constantly qualifying for the champions league, in need of a class striker (so 1st team opportunity), a club with a good manager and a club with an Argentinian presence in Mascherano, Insua and Leto.

I think he'd accept 70k per week which is not that much considering Cheyrou was on 60k wasn't he?

Even though he's free, you'd expect at least £5 million a year in wages and that ain't cheap esp. if Rafa has doubts.

He won't get more than Gerrard ~ 6-7m/yr and he may well be asking for a figure in that region.

Pure speculation, the guy hasnt won much if anything as a footballer. I dont think he will just be coming for the money you cant say that he aint 35 years of age coming over with a wheelbarrow to fill it up with money.
