The 5Live commentary seemed to imply that if you are off the pitch at the start of the shoot out then you don't have to take part. What happens if you break your leg during your run up remains a quandry.

I was only reporting what they were saying but the debate on the radio said that if Taylor had been off the pitch at the start by agreement with the referee then he wouldn't have counted.
