to take a very simplistic view on Arsenal, they are ****ed for next year. From what henry is saying Wenger wont be hanging around for too long and if he is off what big names will be attracted to go there?
Am very surprised Arsenal have let themselves get into this situation, I always thought that they were a lot more savvy than this.

If you believe all the **** in the papers very much like Liverpool as in ****ed next season!

Henry best premiership player for sure. 16mill very good business for arse imo

its a shame to see one of the prems great players go, but considering the patchy season henry had last year due to injury i bet arsenal wish they had just sold him last year for a higher fee.

Well we have a lot more positive press than Arsenal for sure, and over the past few weeks we've not evenhad the greatest of press. Wenger has comeout and said that he will see his contract out which ends next season. They will try and spin it to say henry is not the force he was and they have cesc and van perise etc, but henry was the man for them, the player that struck fear into every team, this is a massive blow for them and if Wenger leaves.......

Henry was one of the best players we've ever had in this country.End of. And the guy still have 4 or 5 years ahead of him. He is someone who looks after himself and will be clever enough to adapt to the conditions as he gets older.

True, but I suppose it was like us with Owen, if we'd know in 2003 he wasnt going to sign am sure we could have sold him for 25/30mill easily. Fact is, for a (almost) 30yr old 16mill is the going rate (see RVN)

Was sat in the pub when the ticker came on, everybody started talking about it. Big move and to be expected of course. Should kick things off.

Seems excellent business by Barca, but Wegner always sells at the right time.

He's similar to Fergie in that.

                And Rafa too, I'd argue.

Houllier hung on to players too long but so long as you avoid that it doesn't seem too hard to avoid selling players too early. Has anyone we've sold in recent years gone on to 'bigger and better things'? In fact, has anyone even played at the same level?

For the latter, I suppose you could argue Morientes has to an extent but there's no doubt he failed in England and surely no-one would say it was wrong to sell him when we did.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

This is it, this is the downfall of Arsenal, I can feel it. This is the opportunity to close the lid on that coffin and hammer the final nail in to finish them off for good.

We can't miss this opportunity. Come on Spurs, Bolton, Newcastle, whoever - step up to the plate and push them out of the top 4 for good.

Keep them down, submerged, where they belong, until they stop kicking and struggling and just give up.

Yes, Rafa seems as rational as these two, and it's a very good thing.

Arsenal would never sell him if they don't have a very good replacement lined up. It would cost more to miss out on the CL than it would cost to sign up a good enough replacement.

They can't afford to miss out on the CL.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

i think wenger sees RVP as his replacement, he'll need another one, but it won't be a big caliber signing imo...

FLMAO at some of the comments in here. Those that think Henry is done will be eating humble pie next season when Barca take back the league. He is hardly injury prone and I can imagine there was a very long line looking to secure him for 16m. Henry has far more than just pace and would have changed the strength of our team dramatically. Van Persie is a very good player but Arsenal have been hurt by this and no mistake.

he'll rip La Liga apart, i think player's that come from england to spain have a bit of advantage, especially if they have speed to burn like henry, he's come up against the hardest and some of the best defenders in the world (i voncider english and italian defenders to be the best in the world) so he's used to a a much more physical came on smaller pitches imagine how he will run riots if he has space to dribble and make some of his deadly runs. he's far from over, i recon he'll be at his best for barca and people will start to remember agian why he is the greates striker in the world...

I'm sure it'll cost more than 16mill to replace henry, esp if Wenger leaves as well who will want to come to the club?s
