Getafe have have named Michael Laudrup as their new coach following Bernd Schuster's departure for Real Madrid.
The Denmark legend has agreed a two-year contract with the Primera Liga outfit, according to a statement on the club's official website.
Laudrup, who spent four years coaching in his homeland with Brondby until 2006, will be officially unveiled in his first managerial role in Spain later this week.
Laudrup spent two years as Denmark assistant coach before taking over at Brondby in 2002, and adopted an attacking style of play which reaped tangible rewards including a league and cup double in 2005.
The 43-year-old chose not to renew his contract with Brondby last year and has since been linked with a host of clubs in Spain and elsewhere in Europe.
Laudrup, who Madrid president Ramon Calderon claimed last week was on the Spanish champions' shortlist to replace Capello along with Schuster and Arsene Wenger, has been waiting patiently in the wings for his appointment to be confirmed.
He told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet last week that he had reached an agreement with Getafe but it could not be finalised until Schuster's situation was sorted.
"We have discussed all the details," he said. "Everything is agreed, but we cannot sign a contract before there is a solution [regarding Schuster]."
Schuster last season led Getafe to the Copa del Rey final for the first time in their history and, despite a 1-0 defeat to Sevilla, earned the club - and Laudrup - a place in next term's UEFA Cup.
