    Alex

Can someone clear this up for me. It's been wrecking my head for a while now.

I'm on about the Brazilian Centre half. This guy is the guy owned by Chelsea and who played for PSV last season, yes? Well, I always thought the Alex who played for PSV and was partly owned by Chelsea was actually the Alex who played for Japan in the World Cup. I did Start thinking there were actually 2 of them but while watching the Liverpool game today, I heard that the guy who scored the free for the others used to play for China national side and is now applying to play for Hong Kong, leading me to believe that the All the Alex's above are indeed the same person, with him having got special clearance to change from playing internationally with Japan to playing with Brazil?

    Or are there indeed 2?

PS, if there are 2 , they must be twins.

Scratch that. Did a bit of googling and they are indeed 2 different players who don't look a like at all.

Strange, I must have been seeing things at the world cup.

Yup cheers lads. I think they are both goalscoring defenders (and Brazilan). Maybe that's why I always assumed they were the same..

Does anyone actually know what's happened to the Brazil/PSV/Chelsea/**** Knows bruiser of a centre back? Is he at Chelsea? Is he a PSV player?

I've seen nothing to suggest this Chelsea business is 'concrete'.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

there was originally a problem with work permit as he hasn't played 75% of matches for brazil.

Think he registered with chelski but was loaned back to psv until he had played enough games for brazil.

Should be a chelski player now as the copa america games would have increased his appearance percentage.

I remember seeing an interview with Peter "****ing ****" Kenyon earlier this summer stating that the Alex deal will be the last business Chelsea will do.

                        Blues close on Alex switch
By reporter - Created on 30 Jul 2007

Chelsea have taken a major step forward in their bid to sign Alex by applying for a work permit.

The Brazilian arrived at Heathrow Airport on Sunday to discuss personal terms and was cleared to enter the country.

However, after a small delay, he opted to return home voluntarily - scotching suggestions that he had been barred from the UK.

The PSV Eindhoven defender is not yet a Chelsea player and is legally entitled to enter the country to undertake contract talks.

A statement issued by Chelsea said: "Alex was due to arrive into England yesterday to discuss personal terms.

"Chelsea Football Club are in the process of applying for a work permit for the player in line with normal football and employment procedure.

"At airport immigration there was a request to clarify Alex's current status. All of the paperwork for his entry was in order.

"After an initial delay, he was cleared to enter the country. He chose voluntarily to fly back but will return when necessary."

However, a Home Office spokesman, while not prepared to discuss individual cases, said: "We have a duty to ensure that the public are aware of, and have confidence in, the security in place at the border, which is for their protection.

"Visitors to the UK also need to be aware of the presence of immigration officers and that they will be subject to checks before being granted entry to this country."

Alex is now likely to undergo a hearing in the near future to assess whether or not he meets the criteria for a work permit.

Guidelines require that a player must have played for his country in at least 75 per cent of their competitive 'A' games in which he was available for selection, during the two years preceding the date of the application.
