Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

It is rather dissapointing atmosphere wise, more of a family affair over there - is that a bad thing?

It's indeed a tremendous sight and the football is always top-drawer. Hope to pop over there before the end of the year, definitely this season.

The team they have at the moment is outstanding.

Yeah, wasn't such a bad thing, am just used to the Anfield atmosphere I guess.
I got a big sense of community while I was there, it certainly is a peoples club, old men smoking cigars with their sons, daughters and grandkids etc.
Could do with a roof though, as we got pissed on at the match for about 30 mins.
IF Rijkaard can get the balance, hunger and morale of that team right, they should be one of the best club sides in European history.
