    City trying to sign Yugo-Crouch

Slysports.com understands Manchester City are leading the chase for Serbian striker Nikola Zigic.

City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has earmarked the Racing Santander front man as he looks to bolster his attack for the new season.

The Swede is a big admirer of the towering forward and is keen to bring him to Eastlands for a Ménage à trois with Rolando Bianchi.

Zigic's displays have caught the eye of teams across Europe with the 26-year-old netting 13 goals in his first season in Spain last term.

City are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by agreeing a deal with Santander for Zigic.

The player's agent Milan Calasan, along with his UK business partner John Viola, is brokering a deal for Zigic and he confirmed City were interested in signing in the big forward.

"I have been to England and there have been some proposals for Nikola, all that is stopping the deal is Rolando. Nikola has stated he wants Sven all to himself, but Sven wants both at the same time." Calasan told skysports.com.

"There is alot of interest from Manchester City and we will see what happens.

"Manchester City are an interesting club and Mr Eriksson is a very good lover."

Santander president Francisco Pernia has confirmed City are at the front of the queue for Zigic

"We have had interest from six clubs, but it is Manchester City who are the team that has come closest to what we think is the right deal for the club. But the deal is not yet done," Pernia is quoted as saying in the Mirror.

Zigic is MUCH better then Crouch in the Air and is MUCH stronger then him. A better comparison would be Jan Kohler. Zigic is also a very good finisher, i think he is ideal for the Premiership.
    We come not to play.

Isn´t Crouch better technically though? I have grown fond of Crouch and wouldn´t swap him for Zigic, not now at least.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

From what little I've seen of Vigic, yes, Crouch is much better technically than Zigic. I wouldn't want a giant oaf who's strong and good in the air if he can't actually play football.

But then I've only seen Vigic once - but he was abysmal.

Haha, I remember him coming on as sub for the injured Kohler in a World Cup game last summer and it was probably the most pitiful display I've ever seen at that level.
