    City's Triple Swoop!

Manchester City have signed Brazil midfielder Elano from Shakhtar Donetsk for £8m to complete a hat-trick of deals for manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
The Swedish boss also picked up Javier Garrido from Real Sociedad for £1.5m and Vedran Corluka from Dinamo Zagreb for an undisclosed fee, on Thursday.

    Elano, 26, and left-back Garrido, 22, have secured a four-year contracts.

Croatia defender Corluka, 21, who can play at either right-back or central defence, has signed a five-year deal.

Elano scored twice in the 3-0 win over Argentina at the Emirates Stadium last year and has been a regular in the Brazil squad since 2004, helping the national side to the recent Copa America.

Garrido made his debut for Sociedad during the 2004/2005 season, making 86 appearances in total.

Corluka has been capped nine times for his country and his versatility is something that attracted Eriksson.

"He's a good defender, another good player first of all and that's the most important thing," said Eriksson.

"He's young and the good thing with him is that he can play in different roles - centre half or right-back. He's a tall, big guy and we look forward to him starting here, it's one more and I hope he will do very well for us.

"Vedran has plenty of international experience already at just 21 which is another plus for us."

Eriksson has now made seven new signings since he took over with Rolando Bianchi, Martin Petrov, Gelson Fernandes and Geovanni all moving to the club.

City chief executive Alistair Mackintosh said: "Today has proved to be an immensely productive one, the outcome of which is the acquisition of three top quality players for Manchester City.

"This has been achieved as a result of some tremendous team work and I would like to praise everyone involved for their efforts.

"I would particularly like to thank owner Dr Thaksin, without whom the signings would not have been possible."

Elano is a superb player. If these players gel, Man city will challenge for Uefa and could be a real darkhorse for cup competions like the FA cup.
I also think Coruluka will be a very good player for them

They're buying everyone! I'm currently about 100 yards from City's training ground - I might pop down and ask Sven if he fancies a surly French attacking midfieder.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I remember seeing that geovanni when he was a kid. I genuinely thought he was gonna turn into one of the best players in the world. Even in his early days at Barca he looked awesome in flashes.

Dont know enough about him to be able to say why it went wrong, be it attitude (most likely) or injuries etc. but if he grasps this chance with both hands and stays fit, he could be the surprise player of the season as he has got talent to burn.

Looking forward to seeing him perform, as long as he is **** against us.

Would love it if we got a bidding war going. Just bump up the price for the 'gem'

I actually think Erikkson is quite a good manager. It's just his decision making in big games which is questionable.

                    They are getting Bojinov aswell.

They will have a decent team, Elano looks like a Juninho type

Isn't Bojinov the one with the terrible attitude?

He has a pretty decent club record and he's being given money to spend

Apparently so. Supposed to be very talented. Talked of as the new Stoichkov both in mentality and potentially ability, so he should be good to watch
