He was a top pro and had very high standards and just outlined the failings of a bunch of tossers from the FAI.Alot changed for the better after he spoke out.If he did'nt it would still be the same.I agreed with him all the way.
One thing you could'nt call him was a yes man.He had the profile to speak up and nobody but him would have caused such a storm.

"Roy you were the star player in every qualifiying game and your performances against the Dutch and Portugal were especially good".

It's history and I could'nt be bothered now,but club should come before country.Internationals suck balls.Carra quit his country and they will play Euro 08 and WC 10.He is right too.I would like to see Gerrard come out in the press and ask how Lampard was playing central and he was'nt.He just took it and did'nt stand up for himself.

The facilities the Irish squad had to train in were very bad in Saipan in preparation for the world cup, Keane threw a wobbler, thee was a few things building up to that moment, like, the top lads in the FAI getting the nice comfy seats at the top of the plan, and all th squad members getting treated like ordinary folk in comparison.
Keane was just not happy with the FAI or the Irish setup, he felt things were not being done right, and he told McCarthy what he though, McCarthy wasn't having any of it, and decided the grill Keane in front of the whole squad, Keane told McCarthy to **** off in the heat of the moment.
McCarthy then showed Keane the door.
I am sure I left lots of bits out aswell. But it went along similar lines to what I said. You really would have to now about the FAI's track record to appreciate where Keane was coming from, they had plenty of time to prepare, and Keane had words with them before about preparations. His attitude got a bit like it did at the end of his United career.
In short, Keane wont accept anything but the best, he sets such high standards for himself, he gets annoyed when others don't try as hard. In these occasions he found this to be true and couldn't hide his frustrations, so was sent packing.
I think he will make a good manager, he won't do anything by half, and should get the most out of his players. I respect Keane for his dedication and heart.
I do not respect his mouth however.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                  * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Yeah, I know, McCarthy didn't handle it well at all, he decided to pull Keane infront of everyone, when he should have had words behind closed doors.
