Out of the midfielders they are playing the most creative is Malbranque who is at best the level of Jermaine Pennant. That shows the gulf in class between Spurs and the top 4.
And even Malbranque is being played out of position and his performances prove it.

      Steven Gerrard
      The baby's not yours"

      :whatever:

The Bitters are like a bunch of gossiping women who read too much Heat magazine. First all the salacious ****e about Fowler and the drugs, now this.

Sad. ****ing. ****s. Sometimes I hate them almost as much as I hate the Mancs.

The chanting last night was laughable. They are so bitter it's untrue. 3-1 up away from home and all they can sing about is us. ****s.

The BBC are reporting that Martin Jol is "deflated".
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

There's nearly always a thread on whatever game is live on the box.

Does that mean his big fat head was full of hot air all this time?

It's amazing how **** Spurs' midfield is even though they've spent so much money on that team. Jenas is, for me, the worst player in the league. I slap myself every time I remember he's a member of the England squad. What does he bring to a side? At least **** players like Carsley work their bollocks off and make up for their lack of talent with aggression and work rate, Jenas is a nothing player.

While I agree that th ecombination of players used by Spurs was crap and that they have far to many similar CMs and no experienced ball winner there is a lot of talent in that midfield.

Although clearly not international standard Jenas is a decent enough mid table box to box player and with a solid holding player along side him he will do well.

Zakora looked great when he first came to the PL but his intensity and willingness to get stuck in has faded. I think there must be some sort of training regime to turn their midfielders into wusses.

Huddlestone looks very talented, I think he will be a very good player in a couple of years. Not experienced enough to run a midfield on his own.

I remember not so long ago a big clamour to buy Malbranque and when I said he was only decent and was hard to fit into a team people got quite exercised in their praise. Interesting how things change.

Not sure why Jol thought that such a narrow team with a biteless midfield was the way to go against Everton but he seems to fancy himself as being tactically the equal of the top 4 managers but he seems a bit Steve McLaren to me - tries a lot of things but never fills you with confidence he will pick the right formation/tactic for a given opposition.

Good post mate. Agree with everything you say other than on Jenas.I just dont rate him.I guess we will have to disagree on that.

Part of the reason Jol is facing the heat is due to the hype generated all around his team.Spurs with the aid of the media have been crowing out for the last 2 years about how they are gonna upstage Arsenal. Too much hype on the English Backbone in their side while Arsenal are the pansy foreigners.
In all the hype they have forgotten one important detail,Arsenal have better players in virtually every position.

An example of the hype:Paul Robinson England's #1. Apparently a world class Keeper.Did you know that Spurs had the least amount of clean sheets in the league last year.Worse than West Ham,Wartford,Sheffield. The press are so quick to crucify Reina after a few clangers, why has no one ever mentioned this.

I think they are a good team and I think once their injury worries are over they will do good. But I dont see them breaking the top 4 this year.
