    Alves is on strike

Dani Alves is expected to make his move to the Chavs this week for a potential £27 million. In the meantime, he has decided to go on strike until that deal is confirmed from both sides.

I would hope that if he had done that, Rafa would have dropped his interest immediately.

The difference this time is that Alves was promised by Sevilla when he signed his new deal that they would sell him this summer if they got a fair offer for him.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Sevilla are just trying to maximize their profit for the player, which is understandable, they have made a fortune in recent years selling players. They are right too.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I will never understand why Alves signed a new deal when you look at how Sevilla has done their business before.

They agreed a fee with Madrid for Ramos and then they upped the price to £19m. They did the same with Baptista and last summer when we had agreed a fee with them for Alves.

More fool the payer really, I do admire his loyalty and all, but there is an element of who pays the highest about him.

I'm fed up with the whole thing. I will pay HJC the £50 this week.

We need a player like him but their is other players out there. The sorry thing is that he will make Chelsea better. I hope that Real signs him.

I am hopefull he will be wasted at Chelsea, much like alot of their wide players have been over recent seasons, the only thing is though, Maureen seems to be waking up to this fact, and is trying to change his ways to accommodate them more.

they are just like Lyon, they know how to maximise their prices.
No way is Alves worth more than 8 mill max.
If the Chavs pay 27mill for a right wing back who cant tackle

Do you really think that Alves wouldn't add more to Chelsea than say Chimbonda who is regularly quoted at ~£8m?

I think Alves is a much better defender than many give him credit for. Seeing as RB is a problem position for Chelsea and money is not a problem in their position I would pay whatever it took to get him in.

If he comes to the PL I predict that like Evra by the end of the season everyone will have forgotten that they thought he was a crap defender by the end of the season. Neither are particularly artful defenders but they are decent and make up for many of their failings with athleticism.

He will improve their 1st team, but I don't think he'll improve them much defensively tbh. He might get by playing against the likes of Everton, but, like Evra, I think he might be exposed playing against the best in Europe.
