    Riquelme to Tottenham for £10m?

Juan Roman Riquelme's agent claims Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer for the Argentinian playmaker.

Villarreal are willing to sell Riquelme after the player spent the second half of last season back in Argentina with Boca Juniors.

There has been interest from several clubs across Europe, but reports suggest Spurs have lodged a 15million euros (£10million) bid.

Riquelme's representative Marcos Franchi feels Villarreal should accept the offer from Tottenham, who have already spent heavily over the summer.

The Spanish side's president Fernando Roig is considering the bid and Franchi is waiting for an official response from Riquelme's current club.

"Despite that we haven't been told anything officially, we know that Villarreal has received a very important offer from Tottenham and that the president Fernando Roig is analysing it," Franchi told Radio La Red.

"They have to make a decision before August 31, otherwise Riquelme will stay at Villarreal as there aren't any other serious negotiations.

"If nothing new appears I think that they should accept this offer as it is good for the club and the player.

"I don't think that Riquelme would be useful for Villarreal without playing.

"It would be much more useful for them to sell him so they recover what they invested in him when they bought him."

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Haha no way. He is exactly the sort of player they need but funnily enough, I've always said he'd be an abject failure in the Premiership...and I still believe that. Too slow, needs/wants too much time on the ball.

He would get it more easy if Spurs get a spanish manager, like Ramos.

        Bye, bye Jol.

I agree with Shaggy, we has flair and unbelievable skill however he's like Bitter's target Lucho Gonzalez- slow, needs too much time on the ball, at times a bit brain dead, lazy.

Dont think he would fancy a cold night in Febuary away at Boro.

I don't think anyone fancies going to Boro at any time of the year

They need a left winger or a central midfielder, wouldn't surprise me if they sign someone who plays off the striker(s). It sums them up.

10 million is a bit much, but he is afantastic player i dont doubt that, but for me has never reached the heights of what a player of his talent is capable of.

He always seems to take the easy option and not push himself to much if it was different im sure he would of made an impact at Barca.

Very family orientated which im sure influenced his decisions over the years.

i don't think theres a chance of riquelme going to a non spanish speaking league, he's got some major issues going on, and if he won't move with in spain i recon he'll be at boca again....

I would have thought the type of player they really need is an intelligent hard tackling midfielder as opposed to an outrageously gifted but slow and physically weak playmaker. I agree with your assessment of his chances in the PL though.

Scott Parker would have been an excellent signing for them.
