    Talk about being bitter?!

It's never their fault, is it?

Manuel Fernandes is set to finalise his move to Valencia, after the Premier League blocked a move to Goodison Park. The Portuguese star had agreed terms and passed a medical at Everton, but the Premier League decided to step in and stop the deal, despite other 3rd party transfers going through for larger profile clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool, but because we can't afford to bribe the Premier League we have lost out again.

All we moan about is non-penalties at Old Toilet, though, it seems.

This just keeps getting better and better.

I bet the Yakubu deal also falls through now, and they end up signing Darren Fletcher and Darius Vassell for £15m.

So the only reason Fernandes ended up at Valencia and not Everton is because the Premier League refused to sanction it? :whatever:

I have to say I think that if the PL decision is the reason for them not signing him then they have probably been gyped. Assuming that the deal involved no ability for the 3rd party to sell in January or whatever then it is the same deal effectively that we and United have done and it should be allowed.

The fact is that the PL do rule disproportionally in favour of big clubs. Having said that i do suspect this is a cover for their failure to get anyone of quality in.

Apparently Yakubu has been denied a work permit on account of not playing enough internationals, although he deliberately asked not to be picked by Nigeria. BBC says over the last 4 seasons only Henry has scored more Prem goals than him

If the latter is true he will easily win his appeal. The original application seems to be purely mechanical but the appeal involves a panel of football people who to be honest ought always to accept transfers of even moderately successful players between two English clubs as the idea is to prevent un-necessary imports and this wouldn't be the case here. In my opinion Yakubu has a better case than Anderson or Levia to have a work permit here.

It seems that Fernandes had a medical, agreed to join, then changed his mind.

                      Our fault.

I had a quick read of that, and picked out this line in particular (no prizes for guessing what they're refering to):-

Nice to see they have so much sympathy for the 39 who died
