    Alves goes AWOL

Daniel Alves goes AWOL from Sevilla
    tribalfooball.com - August 27, 2007

Daniel Alves has gone AWOL from Sevilla.

Still furious at being priced out of a move to Chelsea last week, Alves refused to travel with the Sevilla squad to Athens for this week's Champions League and Super Cup engagements, says El Mundo Deportivo.

A fuming president, Jose Maria del Nido, snapped: "He has shown a total lack of respect to his teammates and the club that pays him. I say this publicly so the fans of Sevilla know the situation and the professionalism of the player."
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Of the Nest is a prick of the highest order. Rafa has been disgusted after dealing with him last year, now it's José and probably any other manager willing to sign the player.

        I do.
And he was quoted as saying something along the lines of - the chairman is intentionally making me look bad to save face, my only concern is my team mate - its all media bull**** as normal, im sure he is more mercenary than your "average" footballer but Id still love him in our team/squad!

Del Nido is a vampire. We had an agreed deal with them, Chelsea had an agreed deal with them and but he backs out of the deals when he sees fit to do it and doesn't care at all what he promises the player.

There is something called respect and honour and Del Nido has no respect or honour for anyone.

I don't think he's to blame in that particular situation. He definitely wants to go and the club (Del Nido) is trying to overprice him and no 'middle ground' has been found, with us, Chelsea and Real amongst the list of clubs interested in him.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Del Nido is a fantastic chairman who does everything for the club's interests and its fans and you'd all love him if he was your club's president.

Alves isnt coming out of this whole situation looking particularly angelic is he? No doubt he is is a great player, but no doubt he is a footballing mercenary either. Im happy enough with Arbeloa for now, fraction of the price, great attitude and ShaggyAlonso definitely would!

He's pissing off his own player to the point he's no longer interested in playing for them. He needs to face the cold fact that Seville will never be as fashionable as the Barca's and Real's of this world ...

Pardon me, but what a load of **** that is. If he started selling his stars to the bigger clubs, he'd be criticized for lacking ambition and lose his popularity with his fans, which is the most important thing. Why would he give a **** about what some neutral fan or a greedy **** of an agent think? Their team, as a unit, isn't inferior to Real Madrid and Barcelona. They have a wonderful chance to make history and become a self-made long standing success.

Obviously he wants what's best for his club, and that's getting the best deal for a player who wants to leave.

If that player is under a long term contract (and nobody pointed a gun to his head when he signed it), why would he bend over? Are contracts worthless pieces of paper? He can keep Alves in the reserves for another year and he'll still have three years left on his contract. I'm glad he's not backing down from an obvious case of player-power getting out of hand. You signed a contract, agreed not to have a realistic release fee clause, gladly took the bump in wages, face the consequences

You don't refuse to work as a professional. Yes Del Nido pisses about, but Alves is totally out of order. Prick. He will, no doubt, have to ask for a transfer if he hasn't already, saving Del Nido and Seville a lot of money.

So Fergie was right to stop Heinze coming over here then ? :whatever:

It's about players rights and not about clubs or corporations 'owning' people just like slavery of old.

Alves has served his time at Seville and if he feels he needs to move on then so be it. He could have been ours if Del Nido didn't veto his move last year and now it's the same saga all over again.

Anyway, it's sickening discussing about Alves all over again.
