Racist chants

Mido was a victim of Anti-Islamic chants from the Barcodes last week according to Middlesborough and it is under investigation from the incompetent FA.

Does football still have a problem with football? I know Spain is a totally different culture but a lot of black players have been victims of monkey chants. I haven't been to a lot of live matches therefore can't make a judgement on what is said at grounds however is there racism at matches and wasn't John Barnes a victim to racism when playing for England?

I wondered why Mido reacted in the way he did right in front of the Newcastle fans at the weekend. Today I found out why and I can hardly blame the bloke.

I don't know the chant but supposedly it was something about a "Muslim bomber".

I think some thickos don't seem to be able to differentiate between racist chanting and these offensive anti-Islamic chants. There's little or no difference and there's no place for it.

There is still racism at football matches, but I thought EPL has everything under control. Appearently not.

The worst racism is in eastern europe, though of major leagues, Italians and Spanish are the worst

Its really sad that we don't have many other minorities in top flight football. I think racism starts from grassroots level with children not being able to make the academy level because of their faith and colour. Anywho, back to my original point, I think if we seen more minorities in the game, it could eradicate the problem as people would be used to seeing them every week.

The Newcastle chants were a disgrace and well below the belt, and it needs to be stamped on asap. Racism is out of line at the best of times, but the anti-muslim sentiment in these sensitive times is possibly even more damaging.

shocking and there's no place in football for it, newcastle will get away without punishment but i think there should be harsher punishments that effect the team, the fans will soon shut up if points are getting deducted.

Agreed, financial penalties don't affect teams anymore as they are owned by multi millionaires. Points deduction will suffice.

He is Egyptian. That still shouldn't be a reason. No race, creed or faith should suffer like that.

I think the Newcastle fans were bang out of order on Sunday with the chants towards Mido. Racism and that kind of stuff should be kept out of football.

You wonder what will happen when the FA gets involved. Will we get punished for the fat chants to Frank Lampard, the chants about John Terry's mum and where Posh Spice took it?

It will only be a matter of time before chanting will be banned altogether if the FA get involved.

there were 2 chants, one was calling Mido a paedo (clever barcodes!)
the second one was calling him a bomber.

Just pathetic and disgusting and the Barcodes should be made an example off. It's just like the secterian chaning in Scotland, mindless and and has no place in today or any day's society.

Racism is totally different to chanting about where Posh Spice took it. Racism is an attack on a person because of their heritage which is disgusting and shouldn't be tolerated.

The other chants are directed to those because they are despised for playing for the opposition, they are chants which are personal however not to the state that football fans are talking about something they were born into and can't help.
