Roy Keane - Worst Transfers Ever?

I was beginning to rate Keane after last season's heroics; however, after his summer spending I'm not too sure.

A fool and his money are easily parted:

    Player From Fee Date
    Michael Chopra Cardiff £ 5000000 13-07-2007
    Kieran Richardson Man Utd £ 5500000 16-07-2007
    Dickson Etuhu Norwich £ 1500000 17-07-2007
    Paul McShane West Brom £ 2500000 26-07-2007
    Craig Gordon Hearts £ 9000000 08-08-2007
    Andy Cole Portsmouth Free 24-08-2007
    Kenwyne Jones Southampton £ 6000000 29-08-2007
    Ian Harte Levante Free 29-08-2007
    Danny Higginbotham Stoke £ 2500000 29-08-2007

    Total: £ 32000000 on who?

Some of them are shockers alright.
Some are OK signings (for Sunderland), but probably paid over the odds.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

That's a shocking summer of transfers for Keane.

I think Chopra will do well for them. His movement against us was excellent and he seems to have the right attitude. Some of the other signings are a bit odd but I think some of them will surprise people but in general he has been forced to over pay for all of those players - thats the problem when a chairman comes out and says you have lots of money to spend I guess.

Chopra is a decent player and deserved a crack at the Prem, but he was miles overpriced.

Gordon seems a good keeper (wildly overrated by the Scots though, but that's no surprise as they're not used to remotely good keepers ) and was very good against us until he feebly let in Voronin's shot, but £9m was yet another joke price.

The rest of them are laughable.

I think McShane might be a good buy though....

Yeah should've made an exception for him - he's started the season very well and they paid a reasonable fee for him.

He has looked the part so far.

Gordon is good, but overpriced. I think Keane is finding it hard attracting players to Sunderland.

Let's look on the bright side for Sunderland, they'll walk the Championship next season

If they stay up it will be a job well done.
It`s a bit expensive, but that`s what you get if you limit your buys to the UK.

Are they so bad considering what the other "small" teams have bought? Maybe overpriced but hardly shockingly bad signings?

Birmingham: Rafael Schmitz, Daniel De Ridder, Olivier Kapo, Garry O’Connor, Stuart Parnaby, Fabrice Muamba, Richard Kingson, Liam Ridgewell, Frank Quedrue, Johan Djourou.

Derby: Tyrone Mears, Robert Earnshaw, Andy Todd, Lewis Price, Andy Griffin, Benny Feilhaber, Eddie Lewis.

Fulham: Diomansy Kamara, Aaron Hughes, Steven Davis, Chris Baird, Paul Konchesky, David Healy, Lee Cook, Adrian Leijer, Hameur Bouazza, Kasey Keller.

Boro: Tuncay Sanli, Jeremie Aliadiere, Jonathan Woodgate, Luke Young, Mido.

                        Reading: Kalifa Cisse, Emerse Fae.

Wigan: Carlo Nash, Mario Melchiot, Titus Bramble , Antoine Sibierski, Jason Koumas, Michael Brown.

Everton: Phil Jagielka, Steven Pienaar, Leighton Baines, Stefan Wessels, Yakubu. (Could't help myself )

                        Jeees I'm bored..........

I was surprised he went for richardson given that he is **** and also i thought he was one of the players he slagged of in his outburst on tv?

Some are really poor signings yeah but some are really good players that some just don't know about yet. The thing that baffles me though is his lack of signing experienced quality proven prem talent. Along the lines of Andy Cole. he should have signed more players like this.

So basically they're all ****e except for all his Irish signings, who are all amaaaaaazing?!

Russell Anderson is another one not mentioned - apparently highly-rated but I've never seen him play.
