infact it does not pain me to say that i wish we had Giggs in our side over the past 15yrs or so. He has just been a brilliant, consistent, versitile and intelligent player.

As for them being 'faaaaar' weaker a year ago, I'm not so sure. For a start, they have some key players getting pretty old and I'm not convinced they've replaced them yet. Scholes, for example, has been **** in the games I've seen this season.
That side will go into decline the moment Scholes calls it a day, he is absolutely everything to them IMO.
At the moment, they dont have a replacement coming through for when that time comes and it would be almost impossible to replace a player of his quality anyway.
Will be a bigger loss to them than Keane and if the side is much the same as it is now then i would expect them not to be the force they undoubtedly currently are.

        Agreed.

I think Anderson has been brought in as their heir to Scholes' throne, but they'll be very lucky if he's half the player Scholes has been. Hilariously inept debut for the lad last week, too. :haha

Scholes is quality as well, he is a very hard player to replace, dont know enough about Anderson to say whether or not he will be up to it in 2yrs time or so. For the money they paid for him he better be!

I still think that Carrick will be the more attacking of a partnership with Hargreaves in the future. I think that the signing of Tevez may mean that Fergie feels that this will necessitate a greater amount of creativity in the front two.

I tend to think that Carrick has a lot more potential than people give him credit for. When he was allowed more freedom to break forward at Spurs (and on occasion last years CL for United) he shows he has a decent shot and makes good runs into the box. He will probably be more Lampard than Gerrard/Sholes or Alonso in that position but I think that can be made to work in the context of a team with two good wingers.

A lot of their future success will rely on either Nani or a new recruit becoming a winger capable of replacing Giggs IMO along with whether they can get someone playing the centre forward role effectively.

This season will be grear because no one really knows what to expect from us and the scum. We could possibly win the league and I can see 1st and 2nd being taken up bu us and the Chavs - not sure in which order. I think utd will be a close 3rd, if teams can take saha and Ronaldo out of the game they will struggle. The begining of the season has proved this. Last season everything came good for them at the begining of the season, all the players played well, no major injuries and some wins. The luck stayed with them after this with no injuries and the likes of giggs and scholes having a really good season. I can see Arsenal getting 4th because of their lack of ability to deal with aggresive teams away from home.
This season is by far our best chance though especially when you consider the effect the african cup will have on the chavs.

I'm sorry, thats absurd. Yukpo pretty much said it a few posts ago so I'm not going to repeat it, but I had to register my sheer astonishment as to the poor quality of that post.
