to be fair, the trombone players are a tiny minority.
Yes but they give all the other fans a bad name. There has long been a hard core in the England support of committed trombone players who go looking for violence, or "brass band action" in their argot, home and away. They often set up fights (or "recitals" as they call them) with opposing trombonists and generally cause wind instrument-related mayhem wherever they go.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
There's a documentary at ten called "Britain's Brass Band Factories: Trombonists Undercover" on Sky Nine, fronted by Grant Mitchell, Donal McIntyre and that rat-faced bloke from that film about hooligans.

There have also been unfortunate incidents of balleting by some of the more graceful supporters.*
Wonderful support once again from the England faithful - David Bentley BOOED ON for his international debut. All his childhood dreams were coming true, and the neanderthals trashed it. Lovely.
And McLaren said after the game that the England support was excellent.
They're a ****ing joke I hope Russia piss all over them on Wednesday.

That's because they knew Pennant should have been picked ahead of him
Because he pulled out of the England U21 squad for the Euros this summer. The real reason is that he thought he was too good for the U21s but the official 'reason' was that he "needed a break" (bless the poor 22 year old who needed an ickle rest). Foolish, but still doesn't warrant being booed ON for your debut.
Imagine someone coming on as a sub to make his debut for us at Anfield and being booed on?!
Got to say in his defence though the idea of a 22 year old (who is now 23) playing for the under 21's is stupid.

I think what makes it worse in most people's eyes is the timing as well - he did it after the squad had been named, meaning that not only was some poor talented kid deprived of the chance to go; but the squad was forced to go a man short. That's what was truly selfish and thoughtless about his actions, so personally I can understand the reception he got. Pulling out just cos he was 'tired' made him a bit of a pussy - pulling out when he did made him a bit of a ****** as well IMO
"the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"
LF Clove aka AFII 11/10/07
"i personally hold you and several other gob****es responsible for the chaos this club is in"
I'm glad Gareth Barry got a chance to play today(about time an all).
I've always rated him.
"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."
