He actually had a good reason for not wanting to play. There was no need to make something up.
What's bizarre is that they thought a dead granny would persuade Staunton and co to let him go home, but that a miscarriage wouldn't. I suppose you have to put it down to stress.Comment

If my Girlfriend rang me with that news i wouldn`t want to play a game of fecking football either.

He ****ed up big time. The FAI hired a private jet for him for christ sakes, all on the belief that he lost his grandmother. Whether they would have hired it for him if they knew that his girlfriend had issues reproducing is irrelevant.
