Michael Owen documentary on Sky One

    Did anyone see it tonight?

I like him. I've never been a real Owen trumpet-blower - I was always a Fowler man - but the programme served as a reminder to me of how fond I am of him.

The footage of him scoring on his debut at Wimbledon made me glow. I remember that night so well and it's easy to forget what a legend he was for us.

I think another reason I can't help but like him (as a person) is his passion and genuine love for horse racing. The training complex he's had built is very impressive, but I felt slightly envious that he's able to splash out about three million quid to live out his dreams. Jammy *******.

I'd bet any money he 'does a Mick Channon' and goes on to become a trainer when he hangs up his boots. At the very least he'll be a prominent owner. He seems to take it even more seriously than even Robbie does.

His hard work in coming back from these last two injuries deserves to be rewarded. He looks stronger than ever, albeit having lost a yard of pace, and it was great to see the retrospective footage of his triumphant start to this season, both for club and country.

I hope he has a good season.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Is it me or does every analyst on tv call him Michael instead of Owen like they are his mates?

Whats the odds on him scoring against us?

I'm sure I have heard Kammy on Goals on Sunday call him Michael and some of the 'analysts' on ITV

I remember that so well its stand out alright and the hype around him was massive he was and still will always be a Liverpool Legend people seem to forget what a player he was for us and he did make a mistake leaving us but how was he to know we were going to go onto great things. Im sure he regrets his decision everyday and although publicly wouldnt say it he'd love a call to come back HOME.

Id take him back in a blink of an eye....QUALITY

And Owen is a Lineker clone. Really dull and boring.

I see him as more of a liability than an asset, no way would Rafa take him back. With Owen, you need to play a certain style. He likes to play with a big man up front. Looking at the backlash since yesterday, I don't see Crouch playing with him every week and would you drop Torres?

I want to hate him(well maybe not hate but ye know wat i mean) but i find it hard to.
Fowler was my childhood hero but then Owen took over.
He did great things for us and carried us at times, also i find him a very interesting and likeable chap in interviews etc. I don't think he's a genuinely cocky, up his own arse **** ie Rio Ferdinand and Fwank Lampard.

On camera definitely, but away from the post-match interviews he seems a good lad. Down to earth, lively, likes a laugh and LOVES his sport.

Id never drop Torres he's world class and when fit he Number 1 striker.

Owen is a better player then Kuyt,Crouch and The Crow.

By the way, I started this thread hoping, really really ****ing hoping, that it won't descend into an Owen bitch-fest. Most of us know who hates him and who's still a bit sore about his departure, so let's try and leave it at that, eh?

I get the impression he's very family orientated
