    Last nights match thread...

    What do we think about the performance people?

    Some were on about us getting "spanked" in the lead up to this match. I, for one, knew this wouldn't be the case. All in all, i think we were a little unfortunate not to come away with a point.....

    The referee was an absolute ****. One rule for the big nations, another for the rest.Good weekend away though....

      It was a strange match. We were unlucky to concede the goal but on the other hand we were fortunate that the Germans didn't take a couple of their chances

        still having trouble causing their defence any real problems cant really recall a save lehmann had to make.we looked ok thopugh and i thought it was a good performance overall.

          one things for sure... O'Shea and Skillbane in the Centre is absolute pants.

            Haven't been on for a few days but heres my two cents.

            We were muck,if it wasn't for Given we'd have been embarassed.
            We had nothing going forward and nothing in the middle.

            In fairness Doyle looks a good prospect and Keane/Duff will have better nights.

            We need a midfield.
            Unlucky with the goal but as I said it could have and should have been worse.

            We'll struggle badly in the group.

            Maybe 4th place

              I think the key point is midfield. O'Shea is dire and Kilbane is poor without some help.
              As you said Keane/Duff will have better days, but only when midfield aint dominated as much.

              We could have snatched the draw (the goal was a fluke) but we could have been stuffed. That said, not many teams go to Germany and get a result.

                And neither did we, so it shouldn't be consolation that other teams get beaten there too.

                I'm so sick of this Irish team. They are awful to watch and can't get a handle on central midfield at all (as has already been stated). It's the first time in probably 30 years (at least) that our midfield has been so bad. And the worst thing is, there's no one coming through to change that. Could really have done with Kevin Nolan declaring for us.

                  Lets see how Czechs/Wales/Slovakia do there.

                  I liked the look of Douglas when he came on against Holland. Definitely put in more than Kilbane/O'Shea.

                    It makes no difference how those teams do there. We lost and could have lost by a lot more.

                        Yeah, you're right.

                        I'm just so pissed off at our team that I'm not thinking straight.

                        It's not even just the game the other night it's more of the steady, slow decline to mediocrity.

                        We'll be the new Scotland before long.

                          We are in a bit of trouble at the moment, and I think we need results to go our way. Losing to Germany was painful (coz of the way it happened) but it's not the end of the world. It was a much better performance than against the Dutchies.
