The Kuyt dive was embarassing, but then so was most of our play last night..

There's a big difference between cringingly embarrassing isolated instances (like whenever Diouf took to the field in a red shirt) and a whole team doing it at every opportunity for 90 minutes though.

Did anyone else notice Mascherano giving Quaresma abuse after fouling him and getting a yellow card. Made me laugh anyway...

And as my thread was merged into this one - I'd just like to make clear that the Portugese are a fantastic people, their hospitality and friendliness is wonderful when you go over there, and Portugal is a beautiful place to visit. It's the way they play football that I can't stand, not the people or the nation as might be implied by some other posts on this thread.

I hate the Portugese players, every last one of them...Ronaldo's the obvious **** but then there's Carvalho, Queresma, Pauletta, Deco(well he's Brazilian i suppose) - all of the same kind - unsportsman like in there diving, ****ing about on the pitch, there sheer arrogance, there moaning and just there all round general atitude on the football pitch.
Now i'm not a massive fan of the French, nor the Italians however neither International sides come close to my hatred for Portugal.
It only really dawned on me tonight what a horrible shower of people they really are.

Agree, except for the horrible shower of people remark, I would say more of a horrible approach to the game of football. I hate those ******s

It's up to the refs and linesmen to sort it out.

What happened to a booking for simulation? Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

IMO Liverpool and England are just as bad as anyone else, it's part of the game.

One way to cure it overnight is the SinBin. Anyone guilty of simulation goes in the SinBin for 10 minutes and after 10 minutes can come on in the net break of play. Managers won't want to play with 10 men for 10 minutes so you can be sure their players won't cheat.

A Lisbon player got booked in the 1st half against manure and i hav`nt seen a dive since.it actually made sporting better as they chased the ball more when they stayed on their feet.

Retrospective action is the way forward. A booking, dismissal or even a suspension would sort managers and players out

I guess you could generalise like that but there are obviously quite a few varieties. There's the ones like Petit and Beto who aren't unsporting in ways of diving but won't hesitate to kick the **** out of anything that moves.

Then there's a few players like Miguel who play the game the way it's supposed to be. Must be said he's a lot less greasy than the rest of them too.

Well, have you played a lot against Balkan, Turkish teams?

Many of them players are worse than most Portugese.
