Mourinho set to join Portugal setup
tribalfooball.com - September 20, 2007
Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to take up a position with the Portuguese national team following his shock departure from Chelsea.
Mourinho has left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent, with Chelsea confirming the decision in the early hours of Thursday morning.
There has already been speculation as to his next post, with the role of Portugal national team coach chalked up as the favourite.
According to a family friend, Mourinho has confirmed he is heading back to his homeland for a role with his country's football federation.
Mourinho will reportedly assume a job within the national set-up, with the view to eventually becoming coach of the Portugal team.
The source also claims that Mourinho told the Chelsea players at the club's training ground on Thursday morning that he would be working with the national side within the next 48 hours.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Not that crazy when you consider than Scolari is suspended for the next four games. I won't be surprised if he is on the bench in the next game for Portugal and then takes over after Scolari.Originally posted by thesilverfoxlfc View PostCrazy decision

Surely he wouldnt want to give up on the day to day running of a club and would be bored with the International way???Originally posted by AFII View PostNot that crazy when you consider than Scolari is suspended for the next four games. Plus Portugal arent that great, fair enough if he come's in to help Portugal till the end of the campaign and then look for a club in the summer or should i say wait for the job offers to come in

Half of them are hangers on who were tired of having to trek to the pub or heaven forbid get on the train up to Old Chavord.Originally posted by Redlife View PostThe reaction of the Chav fans is pretty funny, the fake shock and outrage.
Surely they understand that it's actually got nothing to do with them anymore? It's Roman's club and he can mess it with how he wants. They were content for ridiculous transfers to be funded and for the title to be bought, but most didn't seem to consider the consequences, one of which is that if Abramovich wants to make his mate the manager and pick the team himself, he can. It's not their club.
I mean they had what 20,000 at the Rosenburg game? Shows how much they really care, or rather shows how many really do care.
Still can't believe that he's gone though, not so much that Roman and him clashed - there was an obvious difference in philosophy brewing - but the timing is truely ghastly for them. And what of most of the players there? How will they react? Most of them were close to Mourinho, especially Terry, Lampard, Cech, Essien and Drogba, the key players.
No doubt they'll galvanise themselves for the scum game - lets hope, but in the mid to long term will they play as hard for second rate no marks like Grant and Clarke as they would for Mourinho? Still, I'm not going to write them off this season, they have far too many good players.
Of course the dream scenario is for Roman to start picking the team and buying all the players. He's made a great start with Shevchenko.
I hate Polanski

SSN reprting that Mourinho's compo package will include £20mill.
Can't manage another prem club and what he can and can't say to the media in interviews.
£20 ****in million.
Also a divided dressing room.
English players offering Jose their full support by text.
Drogba in tears when Jose spoke to the team in the dressing room.Last edited by Shanks; 20-09-07, 11:06 PM.

I don't know, I think with Mourinho, he likes to think he has proven himself in this league as he has won everything so I wouldn't be surprised if he has signed it.
He might now go and try and crack Spain, maybe Valencia or Sevilla (if Ramos leaves) or wait till next season when Real will come knocking.
At the moment, he'll relax and pretend he doesn't follow football.
He'll probably wait till Portugal crash and burn in the European Championships before being offered the job. Scolari will want to be England manager and Hiddink will take over Grant at Chelsea.

Why would he want Klinsmann? The man behind Klinsmann's success is that Joachim Lowe, the Germany manager. Weird but I'd be happy to applaud that decision.Originally posted by Red Chilli View Post2 rumours I've heard:
1) Hiddink to take over from Grant when his contract with Russia expires. He won't walk away from a contract.
2) Roman wants Klinnsman
